The First Letter of Peter

The First Letter of Peter

Christian teachings today are being called unscientific, unloving and even hateful.  While none of these are true, Peter tells us that Christians ought to expect ridicule for Christ’s sake.  Indeed, he calls upon us to rejoice when suffering.  And we are to strive to live holy lives, love our fellow believers fervently, and give the enemies of Christianity no occasion to reproach Christ and the gospel.  Peter addresses the roles of wives and husbands, of citizens of the government, of employees and of pastors and parishioners.  This is the Epistle of Hope, as Peter turns our eyes to the Second Coming of Jesus.  This class will be taught by Truman Criss in Room 118.
