Formula of Concord - Class for Teens

The Formula of Concord

The days after the Reformation and after the death of Martin Luther were filled with difficulties for the Lutheran Church.  Various doctrinal questions arose and were much debated.  The questions that were discussed and disputed were finally answered when the Lutherans agreed to a document called “The Formula of Concord,” which was completed in 1577.  Though one might look at the document as an ancient historical piece, it is much more.  It attempted to restate Bible truth that endures throughout time and applies also to us.  In addition, the questions it addresses are, in many cases, questions Christians have today.  In the upcoming weeks our youth will be exploring the Formula of Concord, and with it the Bible itself, and we will be looking at the following issues:

▪ What Are Confessions?

▪ Original Sin

▪ Free Will and Human Powers

▪ Salvation and Good Works

▪ The Third Use of the Law

▪ The Lord’s Supper and the Person of Christ

▪ Christ’s Descent into Hell

▪ On Ecclesiastical Practices

This class is being taught by Pastor David Cloeter.
