Roman Road

The Roman Road is a group of verses taken from the book of Romans which explain why man needs and how man receives salvation.

Romans 3:23        for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,   All means every man, woman and child, past, present or future, with the exception of Jesus Christ.  Sinned means that we missed the mark...we have not and cannot measure up to God's perfect standard.

Romans 6:23a      The wages of sin is death,   This verse explains what we deserve because of our sin, but not just physical death, it also includes spiritual death...eternal suffering because of eternal separation from God.

Romans 6:23b      but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.   Good news!  A gift, since there is nothing we can do to earn it, of eternal life in the joyous presence of God.

Romans 5:8         But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.    THE good news!  While we were enemies of God, He sent His one and only Son to Earth; conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived without sin, took our sins upon himself, was sacrificed on a cross, was raised from the dead and ascended bodily into heaven where he sits at the right hand of God the Father.  He paid the penalty for our sins, all of them that we have ever or will ever commit, so we may be with Him.  How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God! (1 Jn 3:1)

Romans 10:13      Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Romans 10:9,10   That if you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.     But remember, it is nothing we do that earns our salvation.  The very faith that saves, the very ability to believe in the Son, is our great gift from God the Father.  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast. (Eph 2:8,9)
